EPC Domestic

DOMESTIC EPC

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is required when a dwelling is constructed, sold or let.

To enable the production of the certificate it is necessary for our assessor to visit your property and take some simple dimensions and notes relating to the habitable building fabric and its services. Depending on the size and complexity of the property this assessment should not normally take more than 1 hour and will certainly not be invasive.

The EPC is intended to inform potential buyers or tenants about the energy performance of a building, so they can consider energy efficiency as part of their decision to buy or occupy it.

Once produced, the certificate will show an energy rating for the building and is also accompanied by a recommendation report, which provides cost effective measures to enhance the energy performance of the building, together with an indication of the typical savings per year.

The EPC looks broadly similar to the energy labels now provided with vehicles and many appliances. Its purpose is to indicate how energy efficient a building is, therefore the better the rating the more favourable the running costs are likely to be.
